Classification by Load Capacity

Heavy-duty Trucks: Characterized by large load capacities, these are frequently utilized for long-haul freight or heavy-duty engineering transport (e.g., dump trucks and tractor units).
Light-duty Trucks: Featuring smaller load capacities, these are well-suited for short-distance urban distribution or the transport of lighter cargo; in 2024, light-duty trucks accounted for a significant share of total truck sales in my country.

Power Source
The majority of trucks are powered by diesel engines, valued for their high torque output and superior fuel efficiency; a smaller number of light-duty trucks utilize alternative energy sources, such as gasoline or natural gas. Optimization of the powertrain system directly impacts vehicle performance; for instance, by adjusting the transmission gear ratios and final drive ratio, it is possible to enhance acceleration capabilities or reduce fuel consumption (e.g., certain models have achieved a 17.6% reduction in fuel consumption per 100 kilometers following such optimization).
